The elevator pitch: Take a trip to the paradise of the Pacific. Known as “The Gathering Place,” this small island has a little bit of everything for each person who visits. 

When to go: The best times to visit Oahu are April-May and September-early October. This is when you will find the best weather, cheapest prices, and the fewest people. 

Where to stay: If you want to be around shopping centers, world-famous beaches, and fun restaurants, stay on the South Shore in Waikiki! Some of the best hotels are The Royal Hawaiian ($439+, check prices here), Surfjack Hotel ($200+, check prices here), Moana Surfrider by Westin ($400+, check prices here), or The Laylow ($250+, check prices here). How to get around: The best way to get around Oahu is by car. There are several rental options when you get on the island. However, if you are staying in downtown Waikiki, walking is another great way to explore all the nearby shops, restaurants, beaches, and local gems.

Friendly and famous. Queen’s Beach in Waikiki is one of the most famous places to surf the small waves in the world. Whether you’re just relaxing on the sand or catching some waves, surfing is a great activity for all ages. Be sure to rent a surfboard from one of the local surf shops in the area and take lessons from an instructor if you’re up for it!

Head over to Foodland anywhere on the North Shore and get yourself some poké Bowls. These stores include a wide variety of flavors you can get in your bowl! Definitely worth it to try at least once in your life. 

Polynesian Cultural Center

Seven Brothers

Delicious and family-oriented. Seven Brothers is a family-owned gem on the North Shore of Oahu. It is a local favorite and has gained popularity over time. They serve fresh burgers and fries like you’ve never had before. My personal favorite is the “Shem-burger.”

Eco-friendly and delicious. Raised by the Waves is one of the hidden spots on the North Shore that is so fun to eat at! This cute hole-in-the-wall cafe is perfect for breakfast or lunch. They have yummy smoothie bowls, waffles, toasts, salads, and more. I love getting the “Blue Room Smoothie” and turning it into an acaí bowl.

Adventurous and breathtaking. Nestled along the lush green mountains, Kualoa Ranch is the perfect day activity. This picturesque ranch is home to many beautiful scenes of famous movies. If you’ve ever seen Jurassic Park, you’ll recognize this scenery. Take a tour around the ranch in the fun safari bus, check out the ponds, go horseback riding, and explore on ATVs.

Hike Manoa Falls

Beautiful and magnificent. If you are someone who wants some adventure in their vacation, take a hike to Manoa Falls. This 1.5 mile hike leads to a 150 foot waterfall that is absolutely gorgeous! It is perfect for families as well. Be sure to head there early in the morning to beat the hiking crowds. 

Duke's Waikiki

Good vibes and traditional. Eating dinner at Duke’s Waikiki is the most perfect way to end the trip. This famous restaurant sits right along Waikiki Beach, and you can watch the sunset from your table as you sip your drink. The elevator pitch: Bologna is THE ultimate destination for foodies. It is the largest city in the Emilia Romagna region, which is where delicacies like tagliatelle al ragu (bolognese), mortadella, parmigiano reggiano, tortellini, balsamic vinegar, and more originate. Beyond food, Bologna is also Europe’s oldest university town, and the student life adds to the rich and vibrant culture of the city. Perhaps the best part of Bologna is that it is still relatively undiscovered by tourists, especially when comparing it to nearby cities like Florence and Venice. In short: Bologna deserves a spot on your next Italy itinerary!

When to go:  Though it is suitable to visit any time of year, late spring or early fall is best as you avoid the peak heat of summer while also avoiding the wettest months.

Where To Stay: Finding hotels closest to Piazza Maggiore (city center) is ideal, though anywhere in the Old Town is good. The Art Hotel Orologio is particularly well situated and is a relatively affordable option. A few other options are Hotel Metropolitan, Hotel Corona d’Oro and Hotel Touring.

How to get around: Bologna is a compact city, and you can walk just about anywhere you need to go. You can also download the “RideMovi” app to easily rent city bikes throughout the town, and there is convenient bus transportation as well. 

Odds and ends: Bologna is the gastronomic capital of Italy! Be ready to feast with your eyes and bellies!

Simple and homey. Start your day with breakfast at Aroma Specialty Coffee. This homey spot serves the best cappuccino in town. Start with one and a pistachio- or chocolate-filled cornetto pastry while sitting underneath one of the city’s famous porticoes.

Piazza Maggiore

Architectural and cultural. Walk to Piazza Maggiore, the city’s main square, to do some sightseeing. You will find historical architecture, a famous fountain (Fontana del Nettuno), and the unfinished Cattedrale Metropolitana di San Pietro. This is a great spot for people watching and a good starting point to explore the rest of the town.

Warm and traditional. Head to dinner at Ristorante Da Cesari (try to make a reservation in advance, and remember that dinner typically starts around 9pm in Bologna). Here, you must order what I consider to be the “Bologna trifecta”: mortadella, tortellini in brodo, and tagliatelle al ragu. And of course, you should pair it with local wine like pignoletto, lambrusco, or sangiovese.

From your hotel you will be driven about 45 minutes to a Parmigiano Reggiano factory outside of Modena, where you will see exactly how this famous cheese is made and aged. Next, you will have a full scale Italian “breakfast,” complete with parmigiano, pastries, meats, and plenty of wine and espresso.

Rich and unique. You will tour Acetaia Cavedoni, which has been making balsamic vinegar in their family tradition for over 100 years (and later, taste it as well!).

Educational and fun. Then, you will visit a Proscuitto factory, learning about the detailed process of curing and aging the meat. You’ll finish the tour with an epic 4-course meal, served with plenty of wine.

Stroll and relax. Do some shopping on the picturesque Via Clavature, where you will find plenty of boutiques and shops.

Mo Mortadella & Osteria del Sole

Unique and historic. Pick up a simple takeaway lunch at a deli back on Via Pescherie Vecchie, at Mo Mortadella or at Mercato di Mezzo. Then head to the famous Osteria del Sole, a bring-your-own-food bar serving local wines that has been around since 1465. Be warned - it can get quite busy around the lunch hour so best to grab a table as soon as you see it!

Lovely and surprising. Walk off your lunch by visiting Finestrella, a somewhat hidden window viewpoint of one of the remaining canal systems in Bologna.

The elevator pitch: Punta Mita is a 1,500-acre spear shaped peninsula located just 10 miles north of Puerto Vallarta. After experiencing its white sandy beaches, tropical landscape and world-class cuisine, you’ll be counting the days for your return to the serene Mexican hideaway on the Pacific. Punta Mita is the perfect splurge vacation with family, friends or your significant other!

When to go: The weather is beautiful year-round in the Riviera Nayarit. The ideal visiting months are from April - June to enjoy pleasant weather and avoid the winter high tourist season.

Where to stay: For groups of 4+, renting a condo or villa is the way to go! These typically will include a housekeeper and a golf cart for getting around. Some of the best options are found on Punta de Mita Rentals. If you’re leaning towards a resort during your stay, you can’t go wrong with the Four Seasons (consistently ranked as one of the best hotels in all of Mexico) or the St. Regis.

How to get around: Golf carts will do the job just fine, even for getting to dinner outside or rent a car

There’s usually a breakfast menu to select from and you’ll have to cover the cost of groceries (worth it). After all, what’s better than a homemade meal?

Remote and unique. Imagine an uninhabited island with a crater formation in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, cool, right? You’ll want to head out early right after breakfast to the small marina in the town of Punta Mita to secure the best deals with Punta Mita Expeditions, on this excursion. Multiple small boats run from Wednesday - Sunday). The typical tour runs 3 hours long where you’ll also visit  Playa La Nopalera and snorkel in its crystalline waters. On your way there and back you’ll also likely witness a pod of humpback whales!

Enjoy jaw-dropping views and challenge yourself by playing hole 3B, or “Tail of the Whale”, the world’s only natural island golf green, located on Pacifico’s coure. New golfers can opt for classes, but if golf isn’t your cup of tea, head over to the beach to shred some waves. El Surf Club offers various sites for surfers of all levels, and if you’re new to it, lessons are available too!

The elevator pitch: Enjoy good eats, and relaxing views on the beautiful island of Santorini. From strolls down whitewashed walkways to hours soaking up the sun and sand, this vacay is sure to make you swoon!

When to go:  The end of April, early May, and October is a great time to go because Santorini is a lot less busy and less expensive. May-September is the most popular time because of the warm weather. I went the first week of May and it was 65-75 degrees!

Where to stay: If you’re going with 3 people or more I recommend Airbnb for sure - the options are endless! If your party is smaller, hotels are also a great option. The elevator pitch: Spend a weekend in St. Pete! With breathtaking beaches, a historic and scenic downtown, this city has all the bustle of a big city with a charming beach town vibe. 

When to go: I’d suggest a visit late in the summer before the high season starts!

Where to stay: There are some pretty cool Airbnbs in St. Pete - so definitely check those out! A few hotels that I recommend are the Don CeSar ($350+, check prices here), The Vinoy ($459+, check prices here) and The Birchwood ($200+, check prices here).

Historic and delicious. My two favorite dinner spots are Arigato Sushi in Santa Barbara and Sushi Bar by Scratch Kitchen in Montecito. Sushi Bar has a special pre-fixe Omakase menu that you have to book tickets for in advance, but boy is it worth it. The cocktails are incredible, the staff are amazing, and each bite is jaw dropping. Dinner at the Sushi Bar is an extremely memorable experience.

Artisan and delicious. Hop off the coast for a bit and drive towards the beautiful winery town of Paso Robles. You won’t regret it. First stop on the way is either Bob’s Well Bread Bakery in Los Alamos or Paula’s Famous Pancake House in Solvang. Both are national treasures if you ask a breakfast fanatic like myself.

Boutique and adorable. You’ll settle at the picturesque bed & breakfast, Kindred Oak Farms with the lovely owners taking good care of you. They wake you up with a gorgeous spread of farm-to-table fare, from just outside their home. Walk around the property and make friends with the animals. Be sure to reserve your room far in advance, as they only have four bedrooms and it’s a very intimate, off-the-grid retreat.

Thomas Hill Organics

Organic and elegant. The only afternoon activity you should do is wine tasting. There’s nothing like the sunset over the winding hills and valleys in Paso. My favorite winery in the area is Booker Winery, which uses organic and biodynamic farming practices. Not to mention, it is the most elegant, sophisticated, and thoughtfully designed facility.

Casual and seasonal. If you’re not too tuckered out from wine tasting, The Hatch Rotisserie & Bar is a wonderful, casual place to grab dinner. The menu features craft cocktails, small batch whiskeys, and some of the best rotisserie chicken I’ve ever had. If you’re vegetarian or vegan, not to worry - there’s plenty of mouth-watering seasonal vegetables and produce, as well.

Homemade and rustic. The drive from Paso Robles to Big Sur is approximately 2.5 hours of stunning views at every turn. Your first stop, when arriving in the coastal town, is Big Sur Bakery. The smell of freshly baked bread and pastries is enough to go alone.

Sunshine and sand. Pfeiffer Beach is right off the Highway and a great spot to picnic or walk along the beach. Home to the famous arch - be sure to bring your camera, as you’ll want to remember this beach.

Beauty and grace. Sunset is my favorite time in Big Sur and the best place to see it is at McWay Falls. There’s a short trail directly off Highway 1 that leads you to an overlook. This immaculate 80-foot waterfall drops onto the pristine cove.

The elevator pitch: This major metropolis has the hectic feel you’d expect from Vietnam’s largest city - traffic, motorbikes, nightclubs, and that big-city energy. However, if you know where to look, there’s a surprising amount of zen hidden away in this historic city.

When to go: HCMC is quite humid and hot, with consistent temperatures throughout the year. Highs are around 95°F (35°C), and lows rarely go lower than 72°F (22°C). November through March is the driest time to go, and the rainy seasons spans May through October.

Where to stay: We absolutely adore the relaxing Villa Song Saigon ($150+, check prices here), a luxury boutique hotel across the river in District 2. Their free river ferry is a great way to see the city. If you’re looking to be closer to the frenetic city energy, The Myst Dong Khoi ($100+, check prices here) is a great chic, luxury option in centrally-located District 1. For a cheaper central hotel, we love the modern, zen Fusion Suites Saigon ($40+, check prices).

How to get around: Vietnam is a motorbike-centric city, like most of Southeast Asia. Most of our days are designed to be fairly walkable, but for the times that aren’t, we recommend downloading Grab - essentially their Uber that also allows you to book a motorbike driver. Unlike Uber, you can pay your driver in cash.

Odds and ends: Locals still call it Saigon. You’ll need a visa to get in, although they’re easily obtainable online prior to your arrival. Cash is king in Vietnam, so make sure you take out some dong upon your arrival (yep, dong, you read that right).

The elevator pitch: Miami is the perfect place to relax, party, adventure, and sightsee all in the same day. There is no city quite like it. With the city and the beach all within arms reach, your activities are endless.

When to go: I suggest going November-May. All of the other months get too hot and humid, however the summer months will have less tourists.

Where to stay: If you’re looking for a more upscale experience I recommend staying at 1 HOTEL ($500+ in low season / $700+ in high season, check prices here), Nobu Hotel ($280+ low / $400+ high, check prices here), or Fontainebleau ($300+ low / $400+ high, check prices here). The elevator pitch: It goes without saying that Paris is a place of beauty. It’s also so much more than that. It’s a place filled with romance, stunning views, unique architecture, a patisserie on every corner, it’s incredibly walkable and it’s an artistic & creative minds dream. Paris will always leave a lasting impression & is a lifetime must do.

When to go: The best time to jaunt to Paris is June to August and September through October. The summer months can be quite busy with tourists, however the weather is lovely and rarely is higher than mid 70s. The fall foliage is really beautiful but the weather can drop to high 40s at night - it’s nothing a cozy sweater or coat can’t handle.

Where to stay: There are a handful of unique and beautiful places to stay in Paris. A few charming boutique hotels are Hôtel R de Paris ($200+, check prices here) and Hôtel des Grands Boulevards ($230+, check prices here). On the higher end side, you can’t go wrong with La Demeure Montaigne ($380+, check here), Hotel Hoy ($260+, check here) or Hotel du Sentier ($300+, check here). Airbnbs are not a bad option as well - there are lots to choose from!

How to get around: The Paris metro is the fastest form of transportation if you are traveling longer distances. Otherwise on-foot is recommended so you can take in its beauty!

Odds and ends: If you don’t speak French, the language barrier may cause some confusion. I like to look at it as a learning experience - who doesn’t want to learn how to say “je t’aime” in French (I love you!)

The elevator pitch: Whether you’re heading to New York for a long weekend for a girls trip, planning a romantic few days in the city, or considering calling New York City home in the near future, there are endless things to do. New York is known for its culture, diversity, and offerings for anyone and everyone. With some of the best food in the world, so many different sights to see, and things that you can only experience in New York, it is the greatest city in the world for a reason – and that’s a fact ;) This guide will show you the best of New York to live like a local for three days.

When to go: Because New York has extreme weather (think scorching summers and frigid winders), Spring and Fall are the best times to visit New York. Specifically, May/June or September/October are hands down the best times to visit.

Where to stay: Depending on your vibe, Lower Manhattan (SoHo, Tribeca, Greenwich Village) is the best for being able to get around anywhere in the city, with The Bowery Hotel ($400+, check prices here), Greenwich Hotel ($825+, check prices here), or The Ace ($320+, check prices here), and are great options. If you’re traveling with older family members or want something a bit quieter, the Upper East Side is perfect for getting around while being in a cleaner, more low-key environment while still being in one of the most iconic  areas of the city. How to get around: Don’t be afraid of public transportation in New York! Modern and cool. When you hear “converted 1930s factory building”, you might not think “relaxing”, but Bathhouse is here to change your mind. You can opt for a day pass ($70) to use their thermal pools, saunas, and steam rooms, or splurge for a treatment - we love their Hannam Scrub ($130).

Casual and to-go. Grab a slice of pizza from this spot and you won’t be disappointed! You must try their burrata slice. They also have specialty sandwiches rotating on and off the menu such as the lamb souvlaki with tzatziki or the steak sandwich that are so mouth watering.

Modern and elegant. This is a must do on your trip to New York! The food is outstanding, the staff are lovely and the entire experience will be near perfect. Reservations are necessary. Be sure to try their sheep’s milk filled agnolotti and the roasted ramp focaccia.

Posh and residential. My recommendation is from the low 70’s to the mid-90’s (avoiding 86th Street). Pop into some stores on Madison Ave, namely the Ralph Lauren Mansion on 72nd and Madison and get a cup of Ralph’s coffee. Both the women’s and mens stores (across the street from each other) are absolute masterpieces and give a great feel for the quintessential Upper East Side. Play a game of pick-your-brownstone as you see some of the most beautiful townhomes.

Iconic and cultural. Pick 1-2 museums on Museum Mile to visit - my favorites are The Guggenheim and The Met - and then make your way to Central Park with a few bottles of wine in hand and have an aperitivo picnic as the sun sets. My favorite spot is Sheep’s Meadow!

Elegant and cozy.  There are a few locations but the one on 61st Street is the best by far. I recommend the penne alla vodka - it’s so delicious!

Taquiera Ramirez – the best tacos in NYC, located in Greenpoint. Don’t be intimidated by the line outside - it moves relatively quick and it is well worth it!

Drinks at Westlight – views of the city, but from Brooklyn, and with a cocktail in hand!

The elevator pitch: From eco-friendly wellness retreats to dreamy boutique hotels and trendy restaurants, cenotes & jungle speakeasies, Tulum is the modern Jauntie (or Instagram influencer’s) dream destination.

When to go: The best time to visit is in late spring (April) or late fall (November). These months have the most sun and the least rain - making them the perfect time for your jungle getaway. If you can’t make it during those specific months, anytime during the winter from November - April is a good choice. Most importantly, just avoid the summer months as they are humid, rainy and over 100 degrees.

Where to stay: Tulum has no shortage of picture perfect hotels for every Jaunties’ travel style. If you do yoga regularly, enjoy full moon rituals / sound baths and consider yourself somewhat of a hippie, Habitas Tulum ($300+ in low season / $370+ in high season, check prices here) was made for you. If you enjoy having everything on site and never needing to leave the resort, Papaya Playa Project ($320+ low / $700+ high, check prices here) is your best bet. This vibey beachfront property has tons of amenities including one of Tulum’s best beach clubs, and lots to do on site. A few other favorites include Nomade Tulum ($350+ low / $580+ high, check prices here), Be Tulum ($500+ low / $850+ high, check prices here) and of course the Instagram famous Azulik ($400+ low / $700+ high, check prices here).

How to get around: There are two main areas of Tulum: Downtown (The Pueblo) and the Hotel Zone (The Beach). To get between the two, you will need to take a taxi or rent a car for the 15 minute drive. Once on the beach, everything is within walking distance. Along the beachfront road, you will find all the best spots, one after another. If you plan to stay in town (The Pueblo), I recommend renting a car to get back and forth between town and the beach. If you are staying on the beach, walking and the occasional taxi will get you everywhere you need to go.

Fresh and fun. Enjoy an acai bowl or smoothie for breakfast at Matcha Mama while sitting on their macrame swings and taking in the scenery. This super hip cafe on the beach road is famous for its delicious and unique matcha smoothies, and I can’t disagree, it was probably the best smoothie I’ve ever had.
